Why One Amount Has Several Different Fees
M-PESA prices each type of transaction separately, even for the exact same amount. Sending KES 1,000 to another M-PESA user costs a different fee than sending KES 1,000 to a customer on another network or than withdrawing KES 1,000 in cash. This calculator looks up all of them at once so you can compare the cost of each option before choosing how to move your money.
Send to M-Pesa vs. Send to Other Network
"Send to M-Pesa" is the fee for sending to another registered M-PESA user. "Send to other Network" covers sending to a customer on a different mobile money network, and is also the fee used for Pochi La Biashara and Business Till payments to a customer.
Withdrawal and ATM Charges
The withdrawal fee is what an M-PESA agent charges to cash out the amount you enter. Where an ATM withdrawal option exists for that amount band, it is shown separately: ATM charges only apply to amounts between KES 201 and KES 35,000. The final row, Amount + Withdrawal Charges, is the total that would leave your M-PESA balance if you withdrew the full amount in cash.

How much does M-PESA charge to send KES 1,000?
Sending KES 1,000 via M-PESA to a registered user costs KES 13 in transaction fees. Sending the same amount to a customer on another network, or via Pochi La Biashara or a Business Till, also costs KES 13.
Is M-PESA free for amounts under KES 100?
Yes, M-PESA does not charge a fee for transactions of KES 100 or less sent to registered M-PESA users.
